In this interview, we speak with Stephan Smets, Managing Director of Smets Technology GmbH, and Sebastian Crutchfield, General Manager of Allmark Linemarking, a satisfied customer of Smets Technology. Allmark Linemarking recently purchased one ARC 3400 for retexturing applications in Australia. In this interview, we discuss the importance of retexturing for safety, the retexturing market in Australia, and Allmark’s experience working with Smets Technology. Additionally, we explore Allmark’s future plans in the retexturing business and Smets Technology’s environmentally friendly solutions for rubber removal, demarking and retexturing with hydroblasting.

Interviewer: Hello Stephan Smets, thank you for joining us today. Can you tell us about Smets Technology and the products you offer?

Stephan Smets: Yes, certainly. Smets Technology GmbH is a leading manufacturer of specialized equipment for surface preparation and retexturing applications. Our product range includes equipment for rubber removal, demarking and retexturing applications as well as friction testing and oil spillage cleaning equipment.

Interviewer: That sounds interesting. Can you tell us more about retexturing applications?

Stephan Smets: Retexturing is the process of creating a rough surface on a concrete or asphalt pavement to increase traction and reduce the risk of skidding. This is particularly important for highways, airports, and other high-traffic areas where safety is a top priority.

Interviewer: That makes sense. Can you tell us about the market for retexturing in Australia?

Stephan Smets: The retexturing market in Australia is quite large, as the country has a vast network of highways and other transportation infrastructure that requires regular maintenance. Additionally, the Australian government has strict safety regulations for roadways, which means that retexturing is a key component of any maintenance program.

Interviewer: That’s good to know. Now, I understand that Allmark Linemarking recently purchased a truck from Smets Technology for retexturing applications in Australia. Can you tell us about that?

Stephan Smets: Yes, we are thrilled to have Allmark Linemarking as a customer. They are one of the major marking and retexturing companies in Australia! They purchased one of our largest trucks, the ARC 3400, which will be specifically designed for retexturing applications. This truck is equipped with our state-of-the-art hydro-blasting cleaning technology and other specialized equipment for the Australian market, which allows it to quickly and efficiently retexture large areas of pavement.

Interviewer: That’s great. Sebastian Crutchfield, General Manager of Allmark Linemarking, is here with us today as well. Sebastian, can you tell us about your experience working with Smets Technology?

Sebastian Crutchfield: Yes, absolutely. We’ve been extremely satisfied with our experience working with Smets Technology. From the initial consultation to the final purchasing process, their team has been knowledgeable, responsive, and professional.

Interviewer: That’s great to hear. What made you choose Smets Technology over other companies?

Sebastian Crutchfield: We chose Smets Technology because of their reputation for quality and innovation. Their products are top-of-the-line, and they are always at the forefront of new developments in the industry. Additionally, their team is highly experienced and knowledgeable, which gave us confidence that we were making the right choice.

Interviewer: That’s great to hear. What are your plans for your new ARC 3400?

Sebastian Crutchfield: As we have already learned from other Smets Technology customers, the ARC 3400 performs extremely well! We will use it for a variety of retexturing applications, and we are sure that it will exceed our expectations in terms of speed, efficiency, and effectiveness. Additionally, the truck is very easy to operate, which will allow our team to quickly become proficient with it.

Interviewer: That’s great news. Stephan Smets, do you have any final thoughts you’d like to share with us?

Stephan Smets: Just that we are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality products and services. We believe that our equipment can make a significant difference in the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure, and we are proud to be a part of that mission. Thank you for the opportunity to speak with you today.

Interviewer: One final question for Sebastian! Can you tell us about Allmark’s future plans in the retexturing business in Australia?

Sebastian Crutchfield: Yes, definitely. As a company, we are always looking to expand and improve our services. In the retexturing business, we see a lot of potential for growth and we are actively looking for new opportunities to apply our expertise. Smets Technology’s products for rubber removal, demarking and retexturing with hydroblasting are particularly interesting to us, as they provide a more environmentally friendly solution compared to traditional hydro-blasting due to their low water-consumption and after-sales costs. We believe that this technology will become increasingly important in the industry, and we are excited to explore it further.
